Guru Gobind Singh Ji Praying To God

Arr sikh ho apne he mann ko, eh laalach hou gun tau ucharo.
Jab aav ki audh nidan bane att he rann me tabh joojh maro.

O Lord! Bless Me
That I May Never Be Deterred From Righteous Actions.
And Fear No Adversary In Battle,
That Victories Be Mine.
Let Conscience Be My Guide.
I Crave That I May Sing Thy Praises.
May I Draw My Last Breath In Heroic Battle.

(By Guru Gobind Singh Ji - Tenth Sikh Guru)

From Mukhaarbind of Guru Gobind Singh ji; this Shabad was sung by him on the night of the cold Winter when Guru Sahib jio had earlier in the day led the Khalsa forces in the battle of Chamkaur where Guru ji fought with the huge army of enemies of Khalsa Panth. His sons embraced martyrdom in front of his own eyes fighting for Khalsa ideals.Guru Sahib ji in this shabad yearns for remembrance of Waheguru inspite of hardships and tough times.

mithr piaarae noo(n) haal mureedhaa dhaa kehinaa ॥

thudhh bin rog rajaaeeaa dhaa oudtan naag nivaasaa dhae hehinaa ॥
sool suraahee kha(n)jar piaalaa bi(n)g kasaaeeaaa(n) dhaa sehinaa ॥
yaararrae dhaa saanoo(n) saathhar cha(n)gaa bhat(h) khaerriaa dhaa rehinaa ॥

Tell the beloved friend (the Lord) the plight of his disciples.

Without You, rich blankets are a disease and the comfort of the house is like living with snakes.
Our water pitchers are like stakes of torture and our cups have edges like daggers.
Your neglect is like the suffering of animals at the hands of butchers.
Our Beloved Lord's straw bed is more pleasing to us than living in costly furnace-like mansions.

SWAYYA

O God ! the day when I caught hold of your feet,
I do not bring anyone else under my sight;
none other is liked by me now;
the Puranas and the Quran try to know Thee by the names of Ram and Rahim
and talk about you through several stories, but I do not accept any of their opinions;
The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours,
but I do not agree with any of them.
O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace,
what power can I have to write all this?.863.

DOHRA

O Lord ! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Thy door. O Lord !
Thou has caught hold of my arm; I, Govind, am Thy serf, kindly take (care of me and) protect my honour.864

 Chandi di Var

The first part of the Var is known as the "Ardas", the opening Section of Sikh prayer which invokes the names of the Gurus:

One Supreme reality
Victory to the Lord, the Eternal One.
May Almighty God assist us, I write the ode of Almighty God.
Having first remembered God and then I reflect on Guru Nanak.
Then Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das, may they help us.
I reflect on Guru Arjan, Guru Hargobind and Guru Har Rai.
I remember Guru Har Kishan, by whose sight all the sufferings vanish.
Then I do remember Guru Tegh Bahadur, through whose grace the nine treasures come my house.
May they be helpful to us everywhere.

The author describes the emergence Goddess Chandi as a force that destroys the demons.

Lord! By creating Durga, you have caused destruction of demons.
Rama received power from you to kill Ravana with arrows.
Krishna received power from you to threw down Kansa by catching his hair.
The great sages and gods, even practising great austerities for several ages; do not know you.

The 10 Sikh Gurus

Sikh Gurus
Sikhism from over the centuries, beginning in the year 1469. Sikhism was founded by the first guru, Guru Nanak, and subsequently, each guru, in succession, was referred to as "Nanak", and as "Light", making their teachings, in the holy scriptures, equivalent. There are a total of 11 gurus, of which the current and everlasting Sikh Guru is the integrated Sikh scriptures known as the Adi Granth or Guru Granth Sahib.

The Gurus
Sikhism was established by Guru Nanak and ten other Sikh Gurus starting in 1469. Guru Nanak was the first Guru, and Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru, bestowed the Guruship forevermore to the Sikh holy scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib as the 11th Guru, the living word. The Khalsa is known as the Guru Panth, the final temporal Guru/leader of the Sikhs and embodiment of the Guru.[1] Sikhs follow the teachings of the Gurus, which is believed upon remembering, leads to salvation.
The name "Nanak" was used by all the subsequent Gurus who wrote any sacred text in the Sikh holy scripture called the Guru Granth Sahib. The second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad, is also called the "Second Nanak" or "Nanak II". Sikhs hold that all subsequent Gurus carried the same message as that of Guru Nanak, and so they have used the name "Nanak" in their holy text, instead of their own names. Hence all are referred to as the "Light of Nanak".
